PARTNER MATCH

Community Guidelines

We're glad you're here!

This community works when we treat each other's time with care and follow through on what we say we'll do. These guidelines are here to help everyone have a great experience.

How it works

Post /match when you'd like to play.
Someone taps "I'm in."
You both confirm details through DM.
Then you both show up and hit!

1

Follow through

If you tap "I'm in" or accept a match, please plan to be there. People are arranging schedules, reserving courts, and traveling across the city.

If something genuinely comes up, message the other player as soon as you can and give as much notice as possible. Repeated no-shows will result in removal from the community.

If you experience a cancellation and want to repost, please type /match again so your request moves up to the top of the queue.

2

Be honest about your level

Your NTRP rating should reflect your current playing level. Overrating yourself can lead to mismatched sessions that aren't fun for either person.

If you're not sure, say so in the notes field — many players are happy to rally with someone who is open about where they are.

3

Confirm the details

Once you're matched, message each other to confirm:

  • Exact time
  • Which court
  • Who is securing the court
  • Who is bringing balls

A quick "See you at 6 at Riverside 119th on court 3" helps everyone feel confident the plan is set.

4

Be on time

If you say 6pm, aim to be at the court by 6pm. If you're running late, message right away. Courts in NYC are limited and time slots are precious.

5

Respect the courts

Follow NYC Parks rules. Have a valid permit when required. Don't overstay your time slot. Leave the court as you found it.

6

Be a good steward of the community

PARTNER MATCH is here to help people find hitting partners and build real tennis connections. Friendly, organic conversation is welcome.

To keep the space comfortable and useful for everyone, please use DMs for coordination and not sales or self-promotion.

If you receive unsolicited or inappropriate communication, please report via DM to Maxime (@Maxime - Partner Match) so we can keep everyone safe.

7

Be welcoming

Every skill level belongs here — from 2.5 to 5.0+. Please don't gatekeep or put down someone's game. The person you hit with today might become your go-to partner next month.

8

One account per person

Please don't create multiple accounts or post on behalf of someone else. Each profile should represent one real player.

9

No-show policy

We track match confirmations. If you confirm a match and do not show up without communicating:

  • First time: We'll send you a DM to check in. Things happen.
  • Second time: You'll receive a warning.
  • Third time: You'll be removed from the community.

We do this to protect everyone's time and keep trust strong.

10

Report issues

If someone no-shows, behaves inappropriately, or makes you uncomfortable, DM Maxime (@Maxime - Partner Match) and we'll handle it.

The short version

Show up for each other. Be honest about your level. Communicate clearly. Respect everyone's time. Enjoy hitting!

These guidelines may be updated as the community grows. Major changes will be announced in #general.
